Missing the Messiah

The saddest story in the Bible is that after millennia of desperately waiting and anticipating His arrival, most Jews didn’t recognize Jesus as their Messiah. Their messiah was to be a political leader that would expel their enemies, re-established their nation, and bring peace and prosperity back to God’s chosen people. They failed to understand that the Messiah would come twice; once as a suffering servant, the other as a conquering King.
