OUR PURPOSE: MAKING GOD KNOWN
Centerpoint is a community of followers of Jesus Christ who are committed to making Him known in our town, our state, our country, and around the world. We exist to glorify and honor God in all that we do.
We are called to love and serve others while sharing the transforming power of hope that can only be found in Jesus. We want to see people give their lives to Jesus and become better husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, and employees and business owners. A relationship with Jesus makes life better—and it makes you better at life.
Get to Know Us
We are a Christ-centered, biblical-based, others-focused body of believers whose members are equipped and actively involved in the ministries God has called them to. Our focus is on four key areas of ministry—worship, discipleship, missions and outreach, and serving others.
Meet our leadership:
Jon Duncan
Senior Pastor
Jon, with his wife, Marlene, have been married for 43 years, and have been blessed with 3 married children, 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Jon and Marlene have served the Lord in ministry for almost all of their married life in Colorado, and have loved the opportunity to grow together with God’s people.
Jon has a passion to see people bear fruit for God’s glory and apply God’s word by connecting the abundance of His grace to the sometimes hard realities of life. He enjoys teaching the bible, biking and hiking in the beauty of Colorado, spicy food and good coffee.
Bart Mitchell
Worship Pastor
Bart & his wife Marcy have been married for 29 years, and they both committed their lives to the Lord together in 1994. They moved to Pagosa Springs in 2003.
Bart has been serving as Centerpoint’s worship pastor for over 10 years. His passion is to bring God’s people into the presence of the Lord through worship. He also loves teaching others how to play an instrument or sing for the Lord. Marcy is involved in helping the women’s outdoor ministry, and is also the Executive Director of Aspire Medical Services and Education—a local missions organization that offers affordable pregnancy care, parenting classes and mentoring, and resources to both men and women.
Bart & Marcy have been blessed with 3 children and 1 grandson: Brayden, Hayley, Sydney and grandson Ronin.
Ethan Hageness
Youth Pastor
Ethan and his wife Mackenzie, have been married for 9 years and are blessed with their beautiful children, Avonlea, Everett, and Maverick. Ethan loves using his God-given gifts and talents to teach and encourage Centerpoint’s youth and families as they grow in their faith. Mackenzie is a hair stylist and homeschools their three kids. She is passionate about helping others feel comfortable with who God created them to be and living out their calling. They have served together in children’s and youth ministries since before their marriage and want to help others find a place to belong and use their gifts within the body of Christ for God’s glory at Centerpoint and throughout Pagosa Springs.
Lloyd Merino
Hispanic Ministries Leader
Lloyd Merino and his wife Lisa have been married for 10 years and have been blessed with 5 wonderful children. They consider it a joy to be a part of the Centerpoint church family. Lloyd feels honored to follow in Pastor Forrest and Becky Bohlen’s footsteps as the Hispanic Ministry Leader.
Lloyd and Lisa firmly believe in the mission of the Hispanic church to share the good news of the gospel and reach Spanish speakers for Christ.
Marlene Duncan
Children’s Ministry Director
Marlene began her work in the children’s ministry soon after college. She taught Kindergarten and Second Grade in both public and Christian schools and is now retired from full-time teaching. She finds absolute joy in pouring the love of Jesus into little hearts and serving the growing families at Centerpoint, alongside a talented and caring team of pastors and parents. Marlene loves spending time with her children, grandchildren, and husband, Pastor Jon. She also enjoys camping, gardening, hiking, snow shoeing, and the beach.
Kathy Embry
Ministry Assistant
Kathy and her husband Lynn retired in May of 2019 from Bakersfield, California and moved straight to Pagosa Springs, and never looked back! She began working at Centerpoint in 2021 after a 40-year career in office administration and management. So, she’s a perfect fit for this position and works effectively with the pastoral staff on their administrative projects. Hospitality is her strongest gift and it shows when partnering with the leadership and greeting all those who walk in the front doors. Kathy loves God’s word and also supports Lynn in his teaching roll in Bible studies.
Meet Our Deacons
Deacons are simply humble men, saved by the blood of Jesus, and have a servant’s heart—doing all things for Christ. They are important to the elders by assisting them in their service to God and the church body. As they help minister to God’s people in word and deed, their responsibility should never be done lightly.
As spiritual leaders at home and in the church, our deacons strive to maintain good communication between the Centerpoint staff and the church members. You’ll often find them serving and helping the members with their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.
