John the Baptist lived out an important motto. And while his disciples expressed concern that Jesus was attracting more followers than he was, John knew his waning efforts were not in vain; it meant they were a success. No matter what success we have, we owe it all to our Creator. We shouldn’t be angry or frustrated when others seem more successful. Every Christian’s motto should be like John’s. “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Our mission, like John’s, is to get out of the way and prepare people for Jesus.
