In the eyes of many Jews, to be born a Jew was to be born into the kingdom of God. Imagine his shocked look when Jesus tells Nicodemus that his natural birth as a Jew will not save him, and that he must be reborn from above. Being reborn by the Spirit of God is like the wind. We can’t see it but we sure can see its effects. By giving us a new heart we can see the effect of God’s work. There’s evidence all around us in those who have had their lives made new by Jesus Christ.
