Good Friday of Passion Week

The death of Jesus was unlike any other death. Normally, when a person was executed under Roman law, their sentence, or record of debt, was attached to their cross. And, each one of us has a legal sin debt that must be reconciled. But Jesus took our sentence away, effectively nailing our record of debt to His cross. He died in our place! Jesus paid a debt He didn’t owe, because we owed a debt we could never pay. What’s the “good” in Good Friday? Jesus’ blood covers the sins of everyone who believes in Him. So when God looks at us, He doesn’t see our sin; He sees His Son’s righteousness.
